Over 28 years in Foodservices, starting his career with an entrepreneurial family business supplying ethnic caterers. Previously he was Managing Director at Brakes, UK's leading broadline foodservice business. Raj was appointed Group CEO in Sept 2017, post the Sysco acquisition from Bain Capital.
He joined Brakes in 1998 and has successfully led every part of the UK broadline business. Roles have included MD Independent, MD Corporate and MD Speciality businesses. He has also headed the category, pricing, marketing and technical functions.
Entrepreneurial in his approach, customer centric with a track record of building strong teams and succession.
Raj spent his early years in India and after graduating from the University of Bombay came to the UK for his MBA. Raj enjoys food, travelling, cricket and spending time with his family.
Michael joined Fresh Direct in July 2017 as Head of Supply chain Finance. He progressed rapidly through the business in over the last 4 years from Fresh direct FD, to Fresh Direct Group FD to latterly overseeing the finances across the speciality group.
Michael has led the various finance teams and supported the business transformation programme over the last 4 years to a successful conclusion setting the business up for growth.
Michael's previous experience is predominantly in finance roles partnering the business strategy for both In-house and third party logistics including Tesco, Wincanton and Britvic.
Michael & his wife Anna have 2 young girls who take up most of their time and all have keen interest in keeping fit and active including anything from football, to gymnastics to ballet.
Andy joined Fresh Direct in August 2006 as National Account Manager. He progressed rapidly through the business in various Sales & Commercial roles. Appointed to the Board in September 2011 and subsequently to MD in March 2015.
Andy has led the Commercial, Sales & Marketing functions, overseeing a threefold increase in turnover. He is extremely customer focussed, building strong enduring relationships with clients.
Previous experience included similar roles for Bidvest and various operational and logistics roles at Compass Group UK & Ireland.
Andy & his wife Nicola have 3 young children who take up most of their time. When he gets some spare time, he is an all-round sports fan and also enjoys cooking.
Phillip has been in the food and drink industry for over 30 years, starting his career at Whitbread when it was a brewer and subsequently for the premium international spirits company Bacardi, Brown Forman Brands.
In 2013 he joined Brakes looking after the Hotels, Pubs and Restaurant Sector. During his time with Brakes, Phillip progressed through a number of roles culminating with leadership of the Corporate Solutions Division with a turnover in excess of £1bn. In 2020 Phillip joined the Sysco Speciality Team as MD for KFF with the objective of creating the best regional wholesaler in the South East.
Phillip is married to Catrin and has twin daughters, Lucy and Megan.
Steve joined the family butchery wholesaler business in 1988, learning from the ground upwards by immersing himself in absolutely everything. Appointed director in 1997. His wife Caroline joined the following year and their business partnership and team of around 100 has transformed the company into Medina Foodservice.
In 2021 Medina Foodservice became part of the Sysco Speciality Group. Steve is entrepreneurial, constantly looking for new challenges and better ways of running the business. He is excited about joining Sysco and the opportunities it will bring to Medina’s customers from access to great new products to the experience, expertise, and the support of a global group.
Steve and Caroline have a son Brandon. In his spare time Steve loves motorsport and keeping fit.
Ailsa joined the group in November 2017. She was part of the Fresh Direct Group HR team who won the 2019 Personnel Today ‘Talent Management Award’ for their work establishing internal talent development. In July 2020, Ailsa was appointed Group HR Business Partner, and more recently HR Director.
Ailsa enjoys all aspects of HR, particularly supporting talent development and colleague well being. Previously, Ailsa worked for a number of large organisations including Argos/Homebase, Ipsos Mori, Vauxhall Motors and Milton Keynes Council in various HR roles.
Ailsa is married to Ant and they are devoted parents to their 2 boys. Weekends are often spent taking the boys to football or athletics. Ailsa is a keen runner, with her personal goal of completing 1 marathon a year….3 down so far! Spare time is spent with friends and family.
Caroline joined the Group in 2016 having been with the Brakes Group since 2013.
Caroline leads the Transformation programme across the businesses by driving the strategic priorities, planning, stakeholder management and implementation – with the focus on delivering success for our customers.
Before joining Brakes, Caroline worked for MasterCard in Belgium - launching a new operating model in Sales across Europe. Also she worked for Deloitte as a management consultant on major business change projects and started her career with PepsiCo in sales and marketing roles.
Caroline enjoys skiing, travelling & managing a local netball team and also acts as a taxi service to her daughters’ sporting and social activities
